In Bamboo Garden, Parker is reinventing the traditional Chinese moon gate as a lush green horticultural element. Luna Mantle is made entirely of bronze and features delicate petals softly lit to emulate the glow of the moon, creating a “powerful focal point for the garden, bringing the design together beautifully” Parker explains. We are delighted to announce that David Harber has received a Queen's Award for International Trade. The award was given in recognition of the company's outstanding growth in overseas earnings over the last three years, including an increase in its proportion of overseas sales from 22.6% to 40.3%. I also find interesting pieces of metal along the highways and byways. Each piece of metal I collect may spend years in my studio, on a shelf or in a pile, until I “rediscover” it while searching for just the right piece for the next sculpture. I am a “direct metal” welder. I use a wire-feed welder and plasma cutter to cut and weld the pieces of metal together into the forms I desire. I work continuously on each piece until I decide it is finished. It may take me only hours or many days to finish a sculpture. Once a piece is finished, I often immediately name it, usually the first name that comes to my mind when I look at the finished piece. Often I will coat a sculpture with a clear powder-coat, or paint it to preserve its appearance, as often I will simply leave the piece to patina on its own in the weather – bringing out its natural beauty. set up by piecing together the rolled steel according to the model, as clay is soft and wet, the sculptors needed to make some wooden sheets to support the clay to avoid falling. The whole framework, which was little smaller and thinner than the completed sculpture, looked like a huge skeleton.   Step Three: Making Original Clay Mold The next step was to create its surface initially. In this stage, the sculptors applied clay to cover the whole framework, after which the sculpture began to appear its image. set up by piecing together the rolled steel according to the model, as clay is soft and wet, the sculptors needed to make some wooden sheets to support the clay to avoid falling.
